The Goddess Ostara’s (Eostre’s) celebration day can vary from the spring equinox (circa March 21) to the first full moon after the equinox. She is the Anglo-Saxon / Germanic Goddess of new beginnings, fertility, hope and renewal. It is a time of balance between day and night and her symbols include the hare, coloured eggs and spring flowers. In older times celebrants wore brand new clothing to celebrate the festival of Ostara and the Spring equinox.

Ostara loves bright colours. The light pastels of spring are a perfect offering for Ostara. To represent earth on your altar, choose bright or pastel coloured stones like Rose Quartz, Amethyst, or any of the Calcites (blue, red, yellow, or green) A bowl of earth or placing a a plant in soil would also be nice. If you have a piece of Citrine, be sure to include it. Citrine has long been an aid for mental clarity.

Ostara oversees luxuriance, abundance, potency, lushness, richness, hope, joy, fire, regeneration, renewal and sensualness. She brings a spark of freshness to all your endeavours including your personal, profession and even your love life.
